Pareek Samaj has its origin from Maharishi Parashar. Pareek society consists of nine “Nakha”, twelve “Gotras”, twenty-seven “Kuldevi”, and one hundred and eight ‘Varga’.
Maharishi Vasishtha’s son was ‘Shakti’, Shakti’s Parashar, his Ved Vyas, and his son was Shukadeva. Shukdeva had a daughter named Kiritimati. She was married to Vibharaj’s son ‘Annuh’. Their son Brahmadatta went to Parashar’s dynasty as desired by Shukdevji. Brahmadatta and his descendants, known as “Parakya” are called Pareek in the name of Maharishi Parashar. In the Chhah-Nyati Brahmins, the place of the Pareekas is considered to be the first. Pareeks are priests of the Kachwaha dynasty of Amer. Their ancestry in this dynasty has been from ancient times.
